Here, life is best lived outdoors. The sprawling forests, mist-shrouded mountains, lush valleys and roaring rivers make this region a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers alike. However the outdoors call to you, you’ll find a way to answer that calling here.

Here, you’ll find small-town main streets that are full of tradition, alive with activity and enriched by artisans and makers alike. These small towns are rich with community spirit and brimming with hospitality.

Away, but not far from it all.

ARH allows you to practice medicine in a place where you’ll find your own slice of peace and tranquility. But that doesn’t mean you’ll be be far away from some of the most exciting events, activities or sites that Kentucky and West Virginia have to offer, such as:

  • Renowned horse racing, such as the famed Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY or Keenland, the historic training and proving grounds of championship horses located in Lexington, KY.
  • World-class mountain climbing and hiking at BedRock at the Red in Red River Gorge, Kentucky.
  • Experiencing the history and flavor of Kentucky bourbon by touring the Bourbon Trail, as well as several local large and small-batch distilleries.
  • Catch exciting collegiate athletics at Marshall University in Huntington, WV; Louisville University in Louisville, KY; or Kentucky University in Lexington, KY.
  • Take a walk through Americana and country music history at the U.S. 243 Country Music Highway Museum in Staffordsville, KY.

When you live and practice in any of our ARH communities, you’ll be within a two- to three-hour drive of these experiences or any of the following cities:

  • Charleston, West Virginia
  • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Lexington, Kentucky
